Home For Good Santa Barbara County is a community driven action plan with a vision of ending homelessness in Santa Barbara County. We will engage the community in eliminating the negative impacts of homelessness on our homeless neighbors, on our business, and on our communities.
Home For Good Santa Barbara County will support a Coordinated Entry System, a no-wrong door, countywide system that engages and connects individuals and families experiencing homelessness to the optimal resources for their needs. We believe that everyone deserves a safe place to call home for good.
The Santa Barbara region has been very good about creating long-term plans to address critical issues. Unfortunately, our follow-through has been lacking more often than not. The strongest, most resilient, most innovative strategic partnerships begin from a place of true curiosity and humility: What have we learned? Who is best equipped to solve each piece of the puzzle? How can we coordinate our efforts over the long term? Our region has been grappling with issues of housing and homelessness for decades. We’ve asked a lot of questions. We’ve made a lot of plans. But the political will and the financial commitment have not been sufficient to do what we know we must. Today I believe we’re closer than we’ve ever been. The Home for Good effort is, arguably, what we’ve been working toward all this time. Now it’s up to us to show we can build the political will, establish the critical trust among all who serve our homeless neighbors, and make the financial commitment necessary to solve homelessness in our region. -Geoff Green
